Florida Pancreas Cancer Coalition Releases New Documentary, "The Time is Now"

The Florida Pancreas Cancer Coalition, Inc. (FLPCC) announces the release of a new short documentary celebrating the third anniversary of the organization. The video, titled “The Time is Now,” highlights the work of FLPCC and includes a message from the new President, Anna Murphy, as well as messages from FLPCC volunteers, pancreas cancer researchers and local family members who have been impacted by this deadly disease. The video release coincides with the conclusion of the Third Annual Celtic Open Golf Tournament, one of FLPCC’s signature fundraising events which is sponsored by Culhane’ s Irish Pub at Atlantic Beach. This year the tournament raised over $38,000 for FLPCC which now has raised over $125,000 total since its inception for pancreas cancer research.

“We are very excited about the release of our documentary, “The Time is Now” highlights the work of FLPCC while also featuring our late friend and FLPCC Founder Pat McLaughlin. Sadly, Pat passed last year after a 3 ½ year fight with this terrible disease. He is sorely missed but fondly remembered. Working in his honor, this year we are excited about our upcoming projects such as the FLPCC Summit which will occur in May and a Scholarship Luncheon to be held later in the fall,” said Anna Murphy, President of the FLPCC.

The goal of the FLPCC is to invest in local, yet world class, pancreas cancer research where our local neighbors can feel that they are part of the team and actually see and experience where their money is going and what it is accomplishing. Our simple motto is this: “Local money for local world class pancreas cancer research.” Florida Pancreas Cancer Coalition, Inc. (FLPCC) has a Board with active committee members for the purpose of raising local money for local research. Pancreas cancer affects all demographics and 85-percent of those diagnosed will die within six months and of the remaining 15-percent only one-third have a survival rate more than four years. With diminishing funding and the devastating nature of pancreas cancer the FLPCC believes in raising money in a transparent manner on a local level so that all can see the progress to cure this cancer.
